Itemizing your bills allows you to track individual line items of each bill. This is also how you track a single category for the full bill.

  1. Open a bill that has been added to Settle through any of the add bill workflows. In the bottom left of the bill, you'll find the Line items section. Click into this section by clicking on the arrow or in to the section.

  2. If you are using Settle's Universal Catalog, you'll be able to itemize the bill with various items from your catalog.

    1. You can click Itemize bill to have settle Ai auto-scan the bill and create the line items. To avoid this step, you can setup your account so your bills are auto-itemized, saving you from needing to complete this step. Head over to Settings >> Accounts Payable >> Auto-Itemize bills. Turn this toggle on to have your bills get auto-itemized.

    2. Alternatively, you can type in each line with the information that represents the bill's categories.

  3. If you are not using Settle's Universal Catalog, you can simply enter the category that should apply to this bill. The system will also remember this information and apply this same category to future bills from this vendor.
Note, if you use an accounting integration, only categories that are already set in your accounting integration will display here.
