Introduction

An Audit Trail is an essential feature for maintaining transparency and accountability within Settle. It provides a comprehensive log of all actions and changes made to documents, ensuring you have a clear record of who did what and when.

With the Audit Trail, you can easily monitor the history of purchase orders, bills, goods receipt notes (GRNs), and payments. Each entry includes detailed information about the changes made, the user responsible, and the timestamp (in UTC), allowing you to trace the sequence of events accurately.

Comments

Commenting is a valuable subset of the Audit Trail feature. It enables users to communicate directly within Settle by leaving comments on documents and tagging colleagues using @name, similar to Slack. This feature streamlines communication by keeping all relevant discussions in one place.

Please see our help center article about Adding Comments here.

Events

Events such as uploading, approving, and paying are all logged in the Audit Trail. Each event includes details about the action performed, the user who performed it, and the time it occurred. This comprehensive log allows you to track the progress and status of each document, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Approval History

The Audit Trail also includes an approval history for each document. This history shows the sequence of approvals, including who approved the document and when. This feature helps you understand the approval process and ensures that all necessary steps have been completed before a document is finalized.

Actions

The Audit Trail records all actions related to documents, including payments. Each action entry includes the type of action performed, the user responsible, and the timestamp. This detailed log helps you trace all activities related to a document, providing a clear and accurate record of its history.

By utilizing the Audit Trail feature in Settle, you can maintain a high level of transparency, accountability, and communication within your organization, ensuring all document-related activities are accurately tracked and easily accessible.

Timestamps

Since your business likely operates across the world, timestamps in the audit trail are recorded in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).
